One of my all-time favourites get an upgrade – the AirComfy Ease Inflatable Travel Pillow is another great product from the folks at AirComfy. Versatility is its biggest strength, as the AirComfy excels both as a neck pillow – or lumbar pillow for your lower back. The combination of foam and self-inflation helps keep the size down, whilst still being extremely comfortable.

The AirComfy Ease Inflatable Travel Pillow is an upgraded model of one of my favourite travel pillows – the AirComfy Inflatable Multi-Purpose Travel Pillow. The new model adds a removable velvet cover, as well as improvements to the internal fabric and lining to make the pillow sturdier and more resilient to travel.
For a start, I really like the new velvet cover. The material is lovely and soft, but doesn’t get sticky or uncomfortable in hot weather. I’ve not tried it out in a colder environment, but I imagine it’d be really nice to cuddle up to. The cover fits the pillow snugly, so doesn’t slip about as you move positions.
Like its predecessor, the AirComfy is very, very comfortable. This is due to its clever shape and design, plus the combination of foam stuffing which expands as you inflate the pillow. This means the pillow actually has some substance to it, and feels far more comfortable than a regular inflatable travel pillow. You can also use the valve to adjust the AirComfy’s firmness to suit your tastes.
The pillow has a dip in its centre which is designed to rest against the back of your neck – the proportions feel just right to me. In my experience when using bulkier travel pillows my neck doesn’t always have enough space, and my head gets pushed forwards uncomfortably. The side wings are more substantial than the central dip, and cushion the head and neck comfortably. You can also lie your head to the left or right on the sides of the pillow. Perfect if you’ve got a window seat in a plane, train or bus!
Another noteworthy feature is an adjustable elastic strap which allows you to attach the pillow to the seat – and keep it firmly in place. I love this design, and it makes it an absolutely perfect car travel pillow for your next road trip! * Keep in mind this will not work for some airline seats.
And once again, its versatility comes to the fore. Its shape makes it perfect to use as a lower back lumbar pillow, using the strap you can position it to cushion your lower back when driving. Or use it at home or in the office, simply strap it onto your chair! You can even use it as a camping pillow, as its shape makes it comfortable to lie down flat to sleep.
The AirComfy Ease Inflatable Travel Pillow has some really clever design features. For instance, its unique shape makes it super comfortable to use as both a neck pillow, or a lumbar pillow for your lower back. The combination of foam and an inflatable design also help make it much more comfortable than most other inflatable travel pillows.
I think its unique shape is somewhat reminiscent of a bow-tie – it certainly looks different to most other travel pillows. You’ll find a the air valve and logo/tag in the top-left corner of the AirComfy. It comes in a range of five colours, from subtle grey (pictured), through to brighter pink, blue and purple.
However, the upgrade for the AirComfy Ease Inflatable Travel Pillow which I really appreciate is its removable, machine-washable cover. Travel pillows get carted around with us on holidays, and its so easy to spill something on them, or get them dirty or dusty. The cover has a zipper running horizontally along the back of the pillow. The adjustable strap for securing the pillow to your seat handily hides the zipper.
The AirComfy Ease Inflatable Travel Pillow gets a big green tick in the portability department. Its smaller and lighter than most other foam travel pillows. This is because they use an inflatable design to make the pillow expand to its full size. Its a great compromise in my view, as the foam helps the pillow stay comfortable and feel substantial. There’s no competition between this pillow and a purely inflatable pillow in terms of comfort.
Its easy to use as well – to inflate the pillow simply unroll it and release the air valve. The pillow then starts to self-inflate thanks to its foam filling. You’ll need to give it one or two breaths of air to fully inflate it, its really easy to adjust the level of firmness desired. And its foam stuffing means that when adjusted for less firmness it doesn’t lose its shape and support. Its also fast, I had it out of the bag and inflated in a matter of seconds!
To deflate the pillow, simply release the valve and start rolling it in on itself length ways. As you roll it, the air will be pushed out of the valve. Once the pillow is rolled in on itself, you can keep it nice and compact with its supplied carry-case. It also comes with a handy carabiner on the drawstring, which allows you to clip it to your luggage.
You’ll be hard-pressed to find a better value option that the AirComfy Ease Inflatable Travel Pillow. Its comfort, versatility and portability represents fantastic value at its relatively modest asking price. I’d choose this over plenty of other, more expensive travel pillows on the market. The recent upgrades by AirComfy only increase its value in my mind.
