Its versatile design means the AirComfy Inflatable Multi-Purpose Travel Pillow performs equally well as a neck pillow, or lumbar pillow for your lower back. The clever combination of foam and self-inflation makes this one of the most impressive travel pillows I’ve reviewed to date.

The AirComfy Inflatable Multi-Purpose Travel Pillow is by far one of the most comfortable inflatable travel pillows I’ve ever reviewed. I put this down to a combination of its clever shape and design, plus the combination of foam stuffing which expands as you inflate the pillow. This means the pillow actually has some substance to it, and feels far more comfortable than a regular inflatable travel pillow. You can also use the valve to adjust the AirComfy’s firmness to suit your tastes.
The pillow has a dip in its centre which is designed to rest against the back of your neck. I find with some bulkier travel pillows my neck does not have enough space, and my head gets pushed forwards uncomfortably – this is not a problem with the AirComfy! The side wings are more substantial and cushion the head and neck comfortably. You can also lie your head to the left or right on the sides of the pillow.
Another noteworthy feature is an adjustable elastic strap which allows you to attach the pillow to the seat – and keep it firmly in place. I love this design, and it makes it an absolutely perfect car travel pillow for your next road trip! * Keep in mind this will not work for some airline seats.
This AirComfy travel pillow truly is multi-purpose as the name suggests. Its shape makes it perfect to use as a lower back lumbar pillow. using the strap you can position it to cushion your lower back when driving. Or use it at home or in the office, simply strap it onto your chair! You can even use it as a camping pillow, as its shape makes it comfortable to lie down flat to sleep.
Finally, one minor gripe when it comes to the AirComfy is the material is not as soft as I’d like. It has a sort of canvas feel to it, and seems quite tough and durable – which is great. But I’d certainly have preferred a softer, cushier finish.
The good news is, they have recently added a new model with a removable, soft, velvet cover! Check out my review here of the AirComfy Ease Inflatable Travel Pillow.
The AirComfy Inflatable Multi-Purpose Travel Pillow also impresses in the design department. The clever shape makes it comfortable to use as both a neck pillow, or a lumbar pillow for your lower back. The combination of foam and an inflatable design make it much more comfortable than most other inflatable travel pillows.
Looks-wise it is not the most exciting looking pillow, with a plain finish and italicised logo running diagonally next to the air valve. It comes in plain black, or taupe. (I had to look up taupe – its essentially beige!) It would have been nice to to see a wider range of colours. For those not a fan of the material used, you can always purchase a 100% Cotton Flannel pillowcase, also by AirComfy. Regrettably this only comes in a shade of beige!
One drawback for the AirComfy is its lack of machine washability – hand wash only I’m afraid.
I’m giving a big thumbs up to the AirComfy Inflatable Multi-Purpose Travel Pillow in the portability category. For a start it is a featherweight, only tipping the scales at 2.4 ounces. It also packs down to a much smaller size and comes with a carry-case. Attached to the drawstring of the carry case is a lightweight carabiner which allows you to clip it to your luggage. Very handy!
To inflate the pillow simply unroll it and release the air valve – the AirComfy then starts to self-inflate thanks to its foam filling. You’ll need to give it one or two breaths of air to fully inflate it, its really easy to adjust the level of firmness desired. And its foam stuffing means that when adjusted for less firmness it doesn’t lose its shape and support. Its also fast, I had it out of the bag and inflated in a matter of seconds!
To deflate the pillow, simply release the valve and start rolling it in on itself length ways. As you roll it, the air will be pushed out of the valve. It then pops snugly into the carry case.
For the amount of comfort, versatility and portability on offer, the AirComfy Inflatable Multi-Purpose Travel Pillow represents outstanding value at its relatively modest asking price. I’d choose this over many other, higher-priced travel pillows on the market – it just ticks so many boxes.
I’ve read of a few cases online where the air valve has started to leak after a while. I’ve certainly not experienced this, but it is something to keep in the back of your mind. Unfortunately that can be a risk when purchasing inflatable travel pillows.
- Adjustable strap to attach the pillow to your seat
- Versatile design works as a neck pillow, or lumbar pillow
- Lightweight and portable
- Self-inflating design has your pillow ready to use in seconds
- Not machine washable
- Outer material is not as soft as some competitors
There's really not much to fault with the AirComfy. Its foam filling makes it far more comfortable than most other inflatable travel pillows, whilst still remaining light and packing down to a very portable size. Its versatile design allows it to double as a neck pillow and lumbar pillow. Plus an affordable asking price makes this one of the most impressive pillows on the market.
