The Homecube Portable Travel Pillows for Airplanes uses a somewhat unorthodox design approach which really pays off. By allowing you to lie forwards and rest your head against the travel pillow’s inflatable body it can help avoid neck pain.

I’ll start out by saying that the Homecube Portable Travel Pillows for Airplanes will not be for everyone. I find that often times, travel pillows are a very personal choice – what works for one person will not for another. And this pillow uses a different design approach from most travel pillows for airplanes.
Having said all of that – this is a very comfortable travel pillow. Whilst some inflatable travel pillows feel really cheap and plasticky – the soft PVC flocking on this pillow is nice and soft to the touch. Many people find their heads constantly dropping forwards whilst trying to sleep in transit. The Homecube Portable Travel Pillows for Airplanes allows you to lean forwards, which eliminates that problem.
There is a head-shaped hole at the top of the travel pillow which allows your face to rest comfortably (somewhat reminiscent of a massage table). And the arm holes below this let you interlock your arms and hug the pillow. I actually found it really comfortable, and by leaning forwards it cuts down on those dreaded neck and back aches. Further more, the inflatable design lets you regulate how firm the travel pillow feels.
There’s a lot to like about the design of the Homecube Portable Travel Pillows for Airplanes. For a start, its unique shape lets you sleep with your weight pressing forwards. Another cool feature is that you can put you phone or tablet inside the pillow, and watch it whilst lying forwards in comfort. Its also nice that it provides you with a certain amount of privacy – by lying into the pillow, your face is concealed from view. This helps block out the people around you, and may make it easier for you to drop off to sleep.
The Homecube Portable Travel Pillows for Airplanes comes in 3 colour choices, and a handy carry case to pack the pillow down whilst in transit. One thing to keep in mind, is that for a travel pillow it is relatively large once inflated. Compared to other, smaller inflatable travel pillows it will take you a little longer to inflate. I found it took about 30-40 seconds to fully inflate the pillow. Overall the pillow seems well constructed, and the air valve is quite large and easy to use.
Inflatable travel pillows always excel in this category, and the Homecube Portable Travel Pillows for Airplanes is no exception. It only weighs 11.3 ounces, and the handy travel pouch lets you store the travel pillow whilst not in use. The drawstring on the pouch can be used to attach the pillow to your luggage which is a useful feature.
As mentioned previously, the Homecube Portable Travel Pillows for Airplanes is a lot larger than many other inflatable travel pillows. So if you’re looking for the smallest possible inflatable travel pillow, there are other, better options available.
The Homecube Portable Travel Pillows for Airplanes is reasonably priced, and I think offers very good value for money. I love its small packed down size and lightweight, combined with the unique design, and high levels of comfort it provides.
- Unique design allows you to lie with your weight pressing forwards – cutting down on back/neck pain
- Lightweight and portable inflatable design
- Good value
- Unorthodox design will not be for everyone
I have no hesitation recommending the Homecube Portable Travel Pillows for Airplanes. With the caveat that its unique design may not be for everyone. Its comfortable, lightweight, portable and is very good value for your money.
