An ergonomic, slick looking design to be sure. The LANGRIA 6-in-1 Astronaut Memory Foam Travel Pillow is very similar to your traditional U shaped pillows. The main difference being the raised back-rest. The collars of the travel pillow a little lower than most and the pillow comes with an adjustable strap. This allows you to tighten the arms to keep you nice and snug.
The Langria Travel Pillow also comes with a hood that you can use to cover the top part of your face. This is a nice departure from the usual eye mask which can be a bit confining and restrictive. The material is a nice, cool but comfortable eyelet material. The soft parts on the inside are all memory foam. It definitely has the memory foam funk when you first open it so let it air a few days.
You can use the LANGRIA 6-in-1 Astronaut Memory Foam Travel Pillow in many different ways. You may have discerned that from the name! It’s really the “backrest” that allows this to happen. By having a large, flat surface to play with, the Langria acts as a mini pillow in a lot of situations. That’s why the design of the pillow really makes it multi-purpose, head/neck/lumbar support on buses/cars/trains/planes.
The design also allows for bulkier headphones (depending on the position you choose).
Let’s talk about some of the best ways to get comfort out of the LANGRIA 6-in-1 Astronaut Memory Foam Travel Pillow.
I hate to say it but this is going to be another tricky review. Lots of “ifs” “buts” and “maybes”! The LANGRIA 6-in-1 Astronaut Memory Foam Travel Pillow CAN be a very comfortable pillow, partly due to it’s versatile, jack of all trades approach.
Let’s talk about airplanes for a second. If you’ve got a window seat, the Langria is awesome! It can be rotated around so that your head rests on the wall or window. Using it in the original setting works okay. The low collars however don’t do much to prevent sideways movement.
This problem is exacerbated with slender and small necks/heads. The straps do a great job of pulling the pillow tight around your neck. I would still not recommend this for kids or smaller frames.
The takeaway of this however is that if sideways movement isn’t a problem, the LANGRIA 6-in-1 Astronaut Memory Foam Travel Pillow is very comfortable! The backrest is quite thin and you can wear it against your head or neck. It’s also useful for lumbar support or you can fold it up kind of and use it as a regular pillow.
Like a lot of pillows that offer a lot of comfort (usually memory foam), the Langria is damned heavy. Even though it looks streamlined and thing, it’s pretty bulky.
If you can get it squashed up small enough to fit inside the bag, you’ll still be carrying around what looks like a mini sleeping bag. But, at least there is a carry bag! And it does compress down. So really, Langria have done their best to make their product as small as possible.
Looking at the components, the obvious money spent on design and construction, I can say this is a great value product. I had a look around and saw virtually no complaints of straps failing or stitching coming apart. The cover is machine washable so you know it’ll go the distance.
- Incredibly versatile
- Perfect for window seats
- Good multi purpose, car/train/bus/plane
- Difficult to get into carry bag
- Quite bulky and heavy
- One size does not fit all – only for medium-large frames
This is one of my "wait and see" products. I'd like to see if they can improve a little bit on this design. It's almost there but maybe some slightly higher collars and a smaller model would be a move in the right direction. With that said, what a great design and price. You can really use it in a lot of different ways.
